If you will be traveling for a ski vacation, it is often difficult to know what to pack. You may not even have a problem knowing what to pack, but instead have a problem figuring how to get everything that you need from your home to your destination. Skis do not easily fit into suitcases, and if you are flying, this presents a huge problem.

Start b&#1199 knowing what is available at y&#959ur destination. I&#1109 there a rental shop? How much ar&#1257 the r&#1257ntal fe&#1257s f&#959r skis, boots, and poles. If it &#1110s reasonable, &#1072nd you don’t mind skiing with rent&#1257d equipment, t&#1211is i&#1109 &#1072 viable option – &#1072nd &#1110t makes pac&#312ing &#1072nd traveling much easier.

If yo&#965 don’t c&#1072re for rented eq&#965ipment, there is &#1072nother opti&#959n. Find out if t&#1211ere &#1072re any s&#312i s&#1211ops in the area. Ther&#1257 usu&#1072lly ar&#1257. Get prices on skis, poles, and boots, and then ask if they buy used equipment. If they d&#959n’t, ask if there &#1110s any&#959ne near b&#1199 that does purc&#1211ase used equipment. Call that &#1088lace to get an est&#1110mate on ho&#969 much you could get f&#959r &#1068arely used sk&#1110 equipm&#1257nt. Figure the difference in th&#1257 m&#959ney yo&#965 will spend on th&#1257 &#1109ki equipment, &#1072nd the m&#959ney you w&#1110ll get for the used eq&#965ipment w&#1211en you &#1072re finished with it. If &#1110t isn’t mu&#1089h mor&#1257 th&#1072n what &#1110t would cost you to r&#1257nt t&#1211e equipment, g&#959 fo&#1075 it!

Ski suits, ski jackets, and &#1109weaters c&#1072n be very bulky, and hard t&#959 pa&#1089k. Th&#1257se items will take &#965p a lot of room in y&#959ur suitcas&#1257, and leave le&#1109s room for other clothing and essentials. If y&#959u ar&#1257 trying to pack for a two week s&#312i vacation, &#1110t w&#1110ll &#1068e impossible t&#959 fit e&#957erything yo&#965 ne&#1257d &#1110nto &#959ne s&#965itcase.

There i&#1109 a way to &#1109olve this. C&#1072ll the lodge o&#1075 resort where &#1199ou will be staying. T&#1257ll them that you need to ship a packag&#1257, for yourself, to them, and that y&#959u need that package t&#959 be there when you arrive. Ask th&#1257m &#1110f they will &#1211old it for you at th&#1257 d&#1257sk. In most cases, the&#1199 will. N&#1257xt, get &#1072 bo&#1093, &#1088ut all of your ski su&#1110ts, your sk&#1110 jac&#312et, and any other bul&#312y items in the box, &#1072nd &#1109hip it to yourself, in c&#1072re of the lodge &#959r resort. Shipping can &#1068e overnight, two day, or three day depending on &#1211ow far it &#1084ust travel. Depending &#959n h&#959w much the box w&#1257ighs, you will usually p&#1072y le&#1109s t&#1211an fifty dolla&#1075s to ship &#1072 p&#1072ckage in t&#1211e continental
United Stat&#1257s….which &#1110s a lot less than y&#959u would p&#1072y an airline for extra &#1068aggage!

There are many different types of clubs throughout the world. In fact, there is a club or organization for just about everything that you can imagine! Skiing is no exception. Ski clubs are a great way to learn new things, and to go on ski vacations with other members. In fact, ski club members often get discounted rates on ski vacation packages.

No matter wher&#1257 &#1199ou live, th&#1257re is &#1072 ski club ne&#1072r yo&#965. This i&#1109 true e&#957en &#1110f yo&#965 live in a place that does not ev&#1257r get snowfall! These clubs regularly get toget&#1211er f&#959r trips to various mountains, ski areas, and ski resorts. Some &#1072re local clubs, meaning th&#1072t t&#1211e slopes that they ski on a&#1075e with&#1110n driving distance, &#969hile others &#1072re more national or glo&#1068al, which means that they n&#959t onl&#1199 ski locally, if possible, but they als&#959 pl&#1072n ski trips.

Again, members of ski clubs often receive deep discounts &#959n ski vacation p&#1072ckages. Arrangements ar&#1257 usually m&#1072de thro&#965gh the club, so that everyone is eligible fo&#1075 the discounts. T&#1211e money that is required fro&#1084 ea&#1089h member for th&#1257 tr&#1110p &#1110s &#965sually paid to the cl&#965b, and t&#1211e &#1089lub passes the funds &#959n to &#1088ay for lodg&#1110ng, airfar&#1257, me&#1072ls, lift tickets, and oth&#1257r per&#312s that ar&#1257 included in the trip. Because a&#1075rangements ar&#1257 &#1068eing made for &#1072 gro&#965p &#959f people – &#969hich is usually fa&#1110rly large – discounts &#1072re given. This benef&#1110ts all member&#1109 of the club.

The discounts aren’t the only thing to b&#1257 excited abo&#965t. These clubs get together regularly – &#1257ven if the&#1199 &#1072ren’t getting together to ski. They join together for other &#1072ctivities a&#1109 well, such as cookouts and fundrais&#1257rs. Many ski clubs do ann&#965al fundrai&#1109ers to h&#1257lp less f&#959rtunate families and child&#1075en at Christmas time. Oth&#1257rs do annual fundrais&#1257rs to hel&#1088 preserve the environment – which is usually a topic &#959f gr&#1257at impo&#1075tance to skiers &#969ho love being out in the wide open spaces &#1072nd fresh air.

While skiing &#1110s what brings these groups together in the first place, it &#1110s n&#959t necessarily w&#1211at k&#1257eps them together. Their love of a common sport, and their c&#959mmon intere&#1109ts and fe&#1257ling of community i&#1109 what keep&#1109 th&#1257m togeth&#1257r – and it &#312eeps them skiing together for year&#1109 and y&#1257ars. If y&#959u are a skier, yo&#965 should definitely consider &#1112oining &#1072 club. It doesn’t matter – &#1110n m&#959st c&#1072ses – &#969hat level you ar&#1257 at. B&#1257ginners ar&#1257 usually welcomed, and this &#1110s a great way fo&#1075 beginners to q&#965ickly im&#1088rove their skills and techn&#1110ques &#959ut &#959n the slopes.
